After countless close calls trying to help my dad harvest a buck, everything finally came together the day before Illinois’ First Firearm Deer Season. With 40 mph winds and snow on the way, we didn’t expect much deer movement that afternoon. To our surprise, a great buck appeared trailing a doe just 10 minutes after getting in the blind! However, the hunt didn’t go as planned—Dad made a tough shot, and we had to pick up the trail the next morning. This hunt was filled with unforgettable lessons, challenges, and memories that will last a lifetime.
