On this episode of Deer Season 25, it’s early October and Matt Drury is dialed in on a classic cold front setup. With two Missouri shooters in mind, “Ribcage,” a main-frame 10-pointer, and “Chief,” a 6½-year-old 7-point buck, Matt wastes no time getting after it.

He hunts the first day of the front (October 7th) but sees no mature bucks on their feet. The following evening, while Matt is away at his son’s baseball game, his Stealth Cam lights up with daylight pictures of Chief in the Non-Typical Clover food plot.

When October 9th rolls around, the third and final day of the cold front, Matt slips back into the Hawk Office Blind with one goal in mind: catch Chief doing the same thing again. Just before sunset, Chief steps out, and Matt delivers a perfect heart shot with his NAP Killzone RX broadhead.

It all happens during Phase 2, “Greener Pastures,” when beans and corn start to defoliate and deer transition to lush BioLogic plots—in this case, that same Non-Typical Clover that Chief couldn’t resist.
